Cookies
There isn’t much to report here.
This website sets no cookies of its own. The one exception comes from Klaviyo, my email provider, which powers the newsletter sign-up popup, and it only loads if you accept it in the cookie banner. There is no analytics. No advertising or tracking pixels and no embedded social feed or video player watching what you do.
The rest of this page sets out exactly what is stored, so you can see it for yourself.

What is stored on your device
Whatever you choose
Your answer to the cookie banner is kept in local storage, which is technically not a cookie, so you aren’t asked again on every page.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| mama_and_me_cookie_choice | Local storage, essential | Remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies in the banner. | Until you clear your browser data |
It holds a single word. It isn’t sent to me, it isn’t sent to anyone else and it can’t be used to identify you. If you decline, this is the only thing the site ever stores.
Only if you accept
Accepting turns on Klaviyo, the service that runs my mailing list and the newsletter sign-up popup. Klaviyo sets a cookie so the popup behaves sensibly, meaning it doesn’t reappear once you’ve closed it or signed up and so it can recognise you on this site if you’re on my mailing list.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| __kla_id | Marketing cookie, optional | Set by Klaviyo to identify your browser, so the sign-up popup knows whether you’ve already seen it or signed up and so a visit from one of my emails can be recognised. | 2 years |
Klaviyo may also keep small records in local storage about which of its forms you’ve seen. All of it relates to this site only. Klaviyo isn’t an advertising network and nothing here follows you around other websites.
Cookies in the admin area
The site has a private admin area that Steph uses to write blog posts. Signing in there sets two cookies. You will never encounter these as a visitor. They’re listed here for completeness.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| keystatic-gh-access-token | Essential | Keeps the site editor signed in to the admin area after they authenticate with GitHub. | 8 hours (set by GitHub) |
| keystatic-gh-refresh-token | Essential | Renews the sign-in above without signing in again. | 6 months (set by GitHub) |
What this site doesn’t do
- No analytics. I don’t measure page views, sessions or where you came from.
- No advertising or retargeting. Nothing here follows you around other websites.
- No social media embeds. Links to Instagram and Facebook are ordinary links. Nothing loads from them until you click.
- No fonts loaded from Google. The fonts are served from this website’s own address, so browsing doesn’t contact Google at all.
When you leave the site
Some things you’ll want to do happen on someone else’s website: paying for the six week programme, listening to the podcast, following me on social media. Once you follow one of those links you’re on their site and their cookies and privacy policy apply, not mine.
- Stripe, where the six week programme is paid for.
- Klaviyo, which hosts the six week programme priority list signup.
- Instagram and Facebook.
- Spotify, for the podcast episode linked from the six week programme page.
Server logs
Separately from anything stored on your device, the company that hosts this site keeps standard server logs of requests, including IP addresses, so the site can be kept running and secure. These aren’t cookies and I don’t use them to build any picture of you. There’s more on this in the privacy policy.
Clearing it
You can clear site data for this website in your browser settings at any time, and nothing on the site will stop working. The cookie notice will appear again. You can also block cookies and local storage entirely, and the site is built to work either way.
If this changes
If I ever add analytics or an embedded feed, this page will be updated before it goes live, and anything non-essential will be asked about first rather than loaded automatically.
